It Is Written

Read Luke 4:1–13

In Luke 3, we read the powerful encounter of Christ’s baptism. The Holy Spirit in the form of a dove descended upon Him, and God the Father audibly affirmed Jesus’ Sonship, bestowing His credentials for ministry. Afterward Jesus is led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit.

Temptation often comes to us after a spiritual blessing. Satan knows when we are vulnerable or complacent. We need always to be on guard. Knowing and obeying God’s Word is the only offensive weapon in our spiritual armor. Jesus used Scripture to counter the devil’s attack.

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only’” (Luke 4:8).

Temptation itself is not sin. It is comforting to know that Jesus was tempted and did not sin. Jesus’ temptation came when He was alone, tired, and hungry.

Are you listening to Satan’s offer of relief? Is it really companionship and gracious living that you need? Are you full of the Holy Spirit and God’s Word to answer Satan with authority?

Challenge for Today: Resist the devil through worship and the Word.

    At least 500 Christians — including women and children — were killed near the city of Jos, Nigeria, by Hausa-Fulani, an ethnic group, this past weekend.

  • Iran continues persecution of Christians -- AG pastor tortured

    Wilson Issavi, the pastor of The Evangelical Church of Kermanshah (Assemblies of God) in Isfahan, Iran, was arrested by Iranian State Security in early February for converting Muslims. Issavi, who is still in prison, is reportedly in poor condition and shows obvious signs of torture.

    The abortion industry relies on misinformation and incomplete information to direct women to choose to abort their baby. Many pregnancy centers (pro-life) across the nation offer free ultrasounds to help women know the truth about abortion. Organizations are taking further steps against abortion by sharing Christ's love and compassion with these women.

    Global University (AG) has recently gained full regional accreditation status, placing it on par with many other respected colleges and universities.

  • BGMC launches new theme

    BGMC launches their new theme for 2010-2011, "Shake It Up — to change the world!" AG missionaries have written a theme song, BGMC have launched a new video, and many products were added to the BGMC catalog to celebrate the new theme.
